Icefisher Kyle

My name is actually Kyle O Ferguson. When I was in first grade my reading teacher read a short story that I wrote. That story, as I recall, was written on old school wide-ruled paper, was essentially a ripoff from Dr. Seuss. That teacher told me that she really liked my story and that maybe I would be a writer some day.

Seed planted!

Fast forward to the eighties, my teenage years. I was living then in Sherwood, Oregon where my mom and grandmother owned an ancient print shop. It was around that time that I discovered, located in the adjacent city of Tualatin, a little book and comic shop that was co-owned by that same first grade reading teacher! The other owner, I later came to understand, was one of my buddy's aunts. Anyway this shop was called Lady Janes. So I met the other Jane (they were both named Jane) and it turns out she'd somehow heard of this whole obscure Cthulhu thing I had recently come across. Jane set me up with a box there where I would receive any Lovecraft books she manage to come across. She also included other authors such as Derleth, Bloch, Smith, and the like. Eventually I'd get comics in that box too, but that's a different story.

Fast forward to 1996. By then I'm a dad who is graduating college soon with a Liberal Studies degree. I have a young daughter named Evening. I realize then that time is ticking away and that I have never ever even written a complete novel. Desperation ensues, and I crank out the first draft of my first novel. I recollect that it was entitled The Soup.

Now 2025 and things have definitely transmogrified. I have now written rough versions of at least 8 novels, a couple collections of short stories, and a smattering of poetics. So, so many words. Though I have yet to ever publish anything (to be honest I have not even really tried all that much) I can safely say that I consider myself to be a writer. =]

And the journey continues...
